Kate Rusby
Folk Celtic Fusion and Folk Singer Folk singer, Kate Rusby, began her musical career performing on fiddle
in Yorkshire (England) with the family ceilidh band when she was 12,
with her first solo gig happening when she was 15. In the past
decade, she's made six albums of her own, as well as two with the
all-female band The Poozies. With a charming, husky voice and an
ability to blend genres into one unique style, she is well known for
performing "folk music for people who don't like folk music."
Her albums cover everything from bittersweet tales ("I wish") to
heartbreak ("Cruel") to outrageous stories of thieves and swindlers
("The Blind Harper"), thus insuring an enjoyable time for anyone who
happens to pick up an album or see her in concert.
Kate has also composed and performed songs for the movie, Heartlands
(along with her husband, fiddler John McCusker) and has toured
throughout the UK, with plans to tour in the USA at some point.
